Fun Musings From Annie

Annie Crawley Scuba Diving at Sting Ray City in Grand CaymanWhen I am not living underwater with my cameras and exploring the ocean, I enjoy my surface intervals. Going out to hear live music is my favorite or hanging and listening to my brother jam on his guitar. I love reading, going to the movies for double features, and journaling too. I really don't have a favorite genre as you can find me listening to kirtan, blues, classic rock, or alternative and  engrossed in romance, sci-fi, or non-fiction. You may think I am an extrovert, yet I consider myself an introvert. If you take me to a restaurant, I always want to eat family style. I love anything savory or sour to eat and stay away from raw onions and garlic. Yoga and massages makes me feel good!

My favorite memories as a child include going to my Grandmother's house, listening to her stories, and studying the world map hanging in her kitchen. I dreamed of what it would be like to visit the countries I could barely pronounce like Thailand, Tanzania, and Turkey. It's as if my dreams came true when I sold my car to buy my first professional underwater photo and video cameras so I could become an underwater photographer and filmmaker. I never want to look back at life and say, what if. My life has been full of winding roads and calculated risks, making choices to become published and broadcast worldwide. My work is featured in commercials, documentaries, films, magazines and at museums and aquariums. I have lived and worked in places such as Indonesia, Galapagos, Belize, Papua New Guinea, Australia,  and India, usually spending more time below the surface than above. My principles have been built on love of the environment, family, friends and community. Contact me if you are interested in my coaching and mentoring program for students.

Ocean Annie with studentsAs Ocean Annie, I transport students on an imaginary dive around the world while helping them learn life lessons about respect, responsibility, trust and character while engaging their imagination with images of sharks, turtles, coral reefs and kelp forests. Ocean Annie encourages students to face fears, express their imagination, breathe differently and think before acting. It is vital we build confidence and self esteem in every child.

The seven words that have guided me include faith, courage, enthusiasm combined with patience, persistence, perseverance and passion. I would love to hear from you, please leave comments on my posts and share with your friends and family. Send me a note...
