There is no away, everything goes somewhere. Just because you say, just throw it away, what really happens to the plastic you throw away? I just came across this TEDEd Video that features a great animation on what happens to the plastic you throw away. There is a full plastic lesson from TEDEd here. This is a great supplement to Plastic Ahoy! Investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an award winning book about the journey of three scientists to the North Pacific Gyre. We also have a free Plastic Ahoy Teacher Guide to accompany Plastic Ahoy! Investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch book. I would like to encourage everyone to rethink their relationship with plastic and refuse single use. We all need to #bethevoice for the ocean and all her inhabitants. There is no away...everything goes somewhere. Even though recycling is a great choice, refusing single use plastic is even a better one! I encourage you to stop using single use plastic.
