The Youth Ocean Advocates philanthropy team at the Seattle Aquarium is funding the purchase of equipment to aid nonprofits and K-12 schools in the advancement of ocean conservation, research and/or education. A total of $5,000 is available, with individual grant awards of $200 to $2,500, for the purchase of marine science-related equipment. Grant recipients must be a K-12 school or nonprofit with a 501(c)3 or similar designation. Local, national and international organizations are encouraged to apply.
Grant applications will be accepted until 5pm Pacific Standard Time on Friday, May 29, 2015. Grant recipients will be notified via email on World Oceans Day, Monday, June 8, 2015. Grant awards will be distributed by July 1, 2015 and should be spent within one year. Youth Ocean Advocates requests that grant recipients provide evidence of their equipment being utilized or project progress within one year of funding.
